Juan Antonio Blasco

Juan Antonio Blasco MD, MPH is Director of Andalusian HTA Agency (AETSA-FPS) in the Public Progress and Health Foundation since 2018. Former Director of the Madrid HTA Agency (2006-2012).  PAHO/WHO STC, consultant in 2001. Working in the European Commission Joint Research Centre, 2013-2018, supporting the development of the Regulations on Medical Devices and IVDs (745/746). Specialized in Preventive Medicine and Public Health in Bellvitge’s Hospital in Barcelona, and in Health Technology Assessment - International Ulysses master’s program on HTA, Health Economics, Health Service Research and Management. Involved in HTA national and international projects (EUnetHTA JA), and Professor in Clinical Research, HTA Methodology and Evidence Based Medicine training Programmes. Published widely in scientific journals on surgical procedures, innovation, oncology and rare diseases, with particular interest in Clinical Practice Guidelines , Digital Health and Personalised Medicine.  

Member of the INAHTA Board of Directors and former Scientific Director of i-HTS (EuroScan) 2021-2023. Member of the Scientific Committee for the Annual  Meeting HTAi 2024 and the INAHTA Congress meeting 2024 in Seville. President of the Spanish Network for HTA, RedETS, in 2023.
