Elaine Harrow

Elaine Harrow received her undergraduate arts degree from the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 1990 and her postgraduate business qualification from the University of Strathclyde in 1994.

After a number of years working for multinational corporations, Elaine branched out on her own, taking on various roles, including business consultant, project manager and interim manager. It was while working in various interim management roles within the NHS in Scotland that Elaine was first introduced to GIN through her colleagues at SIGN. She left her final role as the Head of Health Services Research and Effectiveness unit when she decided to relocate to Austria in 2011.

After a year’s sabbatical, she was approached to take on an interim role with GIN and has managed the team since 2012, before becoming CEO in 2018.

Since then, she has led a rebrand of GIN and a digital transformation project, including a complete renewal of the GIN website and the implementation of a member management platform, as well as a new library and registry. She has been actively involved in the INGUIDE program since its inception and remains on the Steering Committee. More recently she has worked on setting up the GIN journal, Clinical and Public Health Guidelines, which launched in September 2023.
